NTV host Njambi Koikai blasts government for failing to save her hood from fire (Video)

Media personality Njambi Koikai has come out to shame the county government for not acting fast to save her hood from a raging fire that got out of control.

Several people were last night left homeless in a fire incident in Nairobi’s Riruta area.

Locals and police say the fire started from one of the affected structures before spreading fast to others and that there was no injury or life involved.

Njambi says the fire was put out "na maji ya kisima".

Fire fighters were no where to be seen.

Read her post ranting about the incident.

"So a huge fire has razed down my neighbour's compound. I have a few things to say and it's about time people paid attention and woke up.

Firstly this fire has been put out by BOREHOLE WATER. AS IN BOREHOLE WATER. MAJI YA KISIMA. The men in the hood were drawing water from the borehole and putting it out before the trucks left Fire Station on Tom Mboya Street to get to Riruta Satellite.

Never mind the trucks arrived 2 hours later. Once they arrive, they have to find the access route to that compound. Biggest challenge. CORRUPTION. CORRUPTION AND GREED creates destruction. Some land lords and land ladies have grabbed road reserves therefore trucks or big vehicles cannot access some areas. These road reserves are allocated to them by some people in the administration.

Anyway zima moto zikafika bila maji. So what's the point of fire trucks leaving fire station without water??? Why can't every police station have a fire truck?

What is the construction authority doing about hizi nyumba za mabati zimejengwa mpaka na upstairs??? Who adheres to the building code?

Many thanks to the gentlemen who helped put out the fire.

Now the Mp will be here tomorrow to donate a few things and make some 'promises' then leave to go doodle.

Langata fire a few days ago. Riruta Satellite tonight. Who's next???"
