A prominent Nyeri businessman was shot dead at his home on Saturday night by a gang of armed robbers.

According the Nyeri Central Deputy Commissioner John Marete, the robbers attacked Alfred Ndiang'ui soon after he had entered his compound at around 2200h and he was waiting for the door to his house to be opened.

The gang stole Ndiang'ui’s Ceska pistol, KES 20 000 in cash and two mobile phones.

In November last year, Ndiang'ui was robbed of KES 900 000 in broad daylight while he was heading to a bank to deposit the cash.

Marete said that investigations into the incident have been launched.
