Officer who killed his boss to remain in custody for seven days

A Maralal court has granted Samburu central criminal investigative office permission to detain an administration police officer accused of killing his boss for seven days.

The court allowed the investigative office to hold the suspect at Maralal police station to allow them complete investigations into the incident before presenting him in high court to take a plea of murder charges.

While making an application before Senior Resident Magistrate Abraham Gachie on Monday evening, Investigative Officer Steven Ndonga said remanding the suspect in police custody for one week would enable DCI office in ensuring that the suspect is taken through a psychiatric examination, a postmortem examination done on the deceased’s body and acquire key exhibits before presenting the suspect in court on Monday next week to take plea of murder charges.

Mr Patrick Marwa, an administration police officer attached to Samburu central sub county AP line 2 Maralal behind Kenya Commercial Bank was arrested and detained at Maralal police station after he opened fire at Senior Sergeant Duncun Cheruiyot killing him on the spot at about 7pm on Saturday.
