Muchai was also named as the male sports personality of the year with disability. Muchai who won two gold medals during last year's World para athletics championship won the overall award ahead of Hellen Obiri and Conseslus Kipruto.
Obiri was named as the women's sports personality of the year while Kipruto was named as male sports personality of the year. The Kenya Sevens women's Rugby team was named as women's team of the year while Kenya under nineteen cricket team won the men's team of the year award with their head coach Jimmy Kamande named as coach of the year.
Athletics Kenya won sports Federation of the year award. The awards ceremony was graced by former Kenya international Mike Okoth as Deputy President William Ruto.
