Party of National Unity leader Peter Munya has said the party is destined to form a strong institutional foundation that will last beyond the campaigns and elections cycle's of general elections.

Speaking after holding a closed door meeting with PNU aspirants from Laikipia County at In a Nanyuki hotel, Munya said the party holds the future of development in the country.

"PNU is the party that holds the future of development in Kenya. We want to end the culture of forming short term parties and build on long lasting institutions that are beyond individuals", said Munya.

He further disputed claims that the party is a movement that will come to an end after the elections, but a party that will contribute towards national development.

He added that the opposition is organising itself because Kenya is a multiparty, but PNU is supporting and campaigning for re- election of Uhuru Kenyatta.

"One way of winning the elections is by calling for voters to come out and vote. Its in the interest of the president that we have enough aspirants

in this county. We are a party that is following its Democratic rights and we are not asking anybody permission to continue organising ourselves and drum support for reelection of President Uhuru", he said.

Munya, who held a public rally at KANU grounds, said they have embarked on a concerted recruitment exercise to promote the party and make it the most powerful in Laikipia and win the county government majority seats.
