A prisons officer has accidentally shot and killed his colleague who was an inspector after a quarrel in Eldoret.
The officers engaged in an argument at Kenya Service before one of them fired two shots from his gun killing the deceased identified as Robinson. Awal.
Residents said the quarrel started after the officers escorted a friend to one of them to reclaim a child sired by his girlfriend from a previous relationship with a man in the area.
"The prison officer Who shot had come with his colleague and a friend along with a woman to claim the child leading to the quarrel and shooting", said an eye witness.
A resident Elijah Wachira said one of the officers shot in the air during the quarrel but the deceased cautioned him not yo do so.
A second bullet shot from the gun and got the deceased on the head killing him instantly. Both officers were attached to the Eldoret GK prisons.
Eldoret East OCPD Furaha Adamson said they were investigating the incident.
