Police & KNH Probe Murder Of Cancer Patient

The Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Monday termed the murder of a cancer patient at the hospital on Sunday as "an isolated case" and pledged their full cooperation to police officers investigation the killing.

42-year-old Cosmas Mutunga was found dead on Sunday at 0500h by nurses who had gone to attend to him.

Mutunga was admitted at KNH on November 5 this year and was sleeping at Ward 8C.

He had been observed by nurses at 0400h and was said to very sick.

The nurses found him with a head wound, which is believed to have been caused by a blunt object, when they went to attend to him at 0500h and the nurses immediately called a doctor who upon examining him, announced that he was dead.

Police were called by KNH security after Mutunga was found in his bed with a head wound, apparently from a blunt object.

Police have launched investigations to the incident as the KNH CEO, Lily Koros, assured that the public that the hospital is safe and there is no cause for alarm.

Koros added that security has been stepped up at the hospital and added that KNH will place cameras at strategic locations in the hospital without interfering with the privacy of patients.
