President Uhuru Kenyatta has congratulated Yoweri Museveni after he won a fifth term as President of Uganda.
"I am very pleased to congratulate Museveni on his re-election as President. The people of Uganda have spoken, and they have spoken very clearly. We respect their choice of President Museveni." said Uhuru.
Museveni won 60.5 percent of the vote, while his main challenger Kizza Besigye managed 35.3 percent.
Uganda's main opposition candidate Kizza Besigye however rejected Museveni's victory , saying the poll was a "sham".
