Prominent widows and widowers in Kenya

Someone one said, 'Death keeps no calendar' which can be easily translated as, death is natural and no one can escape from it'.

The last few years the cruel hand of death has plucked a number of celebrities in Kenya, robbing their significant others their source of love and comfort leaving them as widows and widowers.

We take a trip down memory lane on a number of Kenyan celebrities who have been robbed of their significant others.

Mwai Kibaki

Retired president, Mwai Kibaki's wife, Mama Lucy Kibaki died at a London hospital on April 26th, 2016 after being unwell for about a month.

The former first lady died aged 82 at Bupa Cromwell Hospital.

Eva Msando

Ms Eva Msando is the widow of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ICT manager, Chris Msando.

The IT expert was kidnapped and tortured before his murder. His naked body was discovered by locals in Mguga Forest, Kikuyu in July 2017.

Miriam Wairimu

Ms Miriam Wairimu is the widow of slain whistle-blower Jacob Juma. Juma was shot dead in mysterious circumstance as he drove to his Karen home on the night of May 5, 2016, and his vehicle found along Ngong Road.

George Ikua

George is the widower of the late NTV presenter, Janet Kanini Ikua. Janet who hosted the property show succumbed to lung cancer on April 1st 2017.

The two were blessed with two young kids.

Tedd Josiah

The award winning music producer and a father of one lost his wife, Reginah Katar due to a sudden illness in October 2017.

Reginah Katar left behind a three-month old baby girl.

Dan Sonko

Kenyan actor, Dan Kinyanjui popularly known as Dan sonko lost his wife Druscillah Walowe Mngoda, popularly known as Dru Sonko in May 2017 due to complications after giving birth to her second child, Darrell.

Dru left behind two kids.

Njesh Kaberere

Popularly known as Njeri Kahura is a widow to the late gospel singer, Peter Kaberere.

According to The Star, Kabere passed away on April 6, 2014, after being electrocuted at his car wash, while cleaning his car. Reports revealed that there was a fault in the car washing machine equipment that led to his electrocution.

The Kiburi hitmaker was married to Njeri Kahura aka Njesh Wa Qabbz, and were blessed with a baby boy and during his death, his beautiful wife was expectant with their second child, a daughter.

Edith Nyenze

Edith is the widow of the late Kitui West MP, Francis Nyenze who died in December 2017 after a long battle with coronary cancer. Nyenze died while being treated at a Nairobi hospital.
