Public service vehicles boycott as police enforce Michuki rules

Several public service vehicles have boycotted roads this morning as police start enforcement of the Michuki rules.

Few that are in operation have increased fares.

A number of commuters are trekking to their places of work. Private cars are also carrying passengers at a cost.

Bodaboda operators are making a kill ferrying passengers to various places. Authorities announced strict enforcement of the law in efforts to bring sanity to the roads.

Matatu operators have vowed to stay off roads in reaction to the move by police and ministry of transport officials.

Meanwhile, examination authorities are today set to announce new measures to combat malpractices in the KCSE exams which enters second week.

Education CS Amina Mohamed to open exam container in Naivasha Town before visiting selected centres and later conduct impromptu school visits while Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang will open container for distribution of papers in Kisauni, Mombasa and visit selected exam centres.

Teachers service commission boss Nancy Macharia will be in Nairobi’s Kariokor and conduct random Centre checks while KNEC chairman George Magoha will be in Kisii town and KICD boss Julius Jwan will be in Homabay town.

There have been reports of malpractices at some areas in the past week with authorities making efforts to contain the menace.
