Restore Lonyangapuo's security - Council of Governors demand

The Council of Governors (CoG) has demanded immediate restoration of the security detail attached to West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo.

CoG Chairman Josephat Nanok condemned the withdrawal of Lonyangapuo’s security, saying the action was taken without notice or formal communication to the governor.
West Pokot governor John Lonyangapuo’s security was withdrawn on Friday after he removed a police roadblock andwith freed a boda boda rider in Chepararia on Wednesday.
The security attached to the governor was withdrawn after he was involved in a scuffle with police at a road block on Kitale-Kainuk highway.
Nanok said withdrawal of the Governor’s security personnel demonstrates a clear conflict between discharge of public duties and fulfillment of personal interests, whether directly or indirectly. Lonyangapuo’s bodyguards were recalled after he stormed a police roadblock and dramatically freed a boda boda rider who had been arrested for allegedly flouting traffic rules.
Meanwhile, four suspected thugs were at the weekend killed and guns recovered from them in the war on crime.

One of the suspects was killed Friday night in Githurai Kimbo and a pistol with nine rounds of ammunition found on him.

The pistol had been stolen from a police officer who was shot and killed in Kayole three months ago, police said.

Three other suspects were killed in Utawala after they had stolen a salon car from Embakasi.

Police said the car was stolen from a parking lot in at the local shopping centre and traced to Utawala where the three were killed and a master key found on them.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary.
