Radio Jambo mid-morning presenter, Annitah Raey is a lady on a mission, hers is to help women who have been subjected to any form of violence break the silence and face their fears.

Annitah who is a victim of sexual and physical violence, plans to host an open event dubbed 'My story our journey' where such victims can come up and talk about their experiences to help them in their healing process.

The event will take place today 7th March 2018 at 6:30pm at Alliance Francaise.

A while back the courageous presenter opened up on her past rough experience which saw her ran away from home at a tender age of 13, raped at 15 and she got into an early marriage at just 17.

To make matters worse she was to a point in her life where she was battling depression and was contemplating committing suicide.

I ran away from home at 13 years , I was raped at 15 years , I was married at 17 years , I had my son at 19 and divorced on 21 . I have struggled with depression, was suicidal at some point... I had a second baby so I could feel a void of loneliness in my heart.  I am a radio presenter now. I have one of the best shows in the country. I still struggle with this issues but I have learned to live with my head my scars like a crown. My pain has become my strength. I want my story to be journey of every woman. I want women to know that rape is not death, abuse is not death you can rise above it.  Revealed Annitah a while back.

We need to break the silence.. Everyone is talking about things to be done but no one is actually doing anything to end domestic and sexual violence.. we shame the women for being raped.. We shame women for being battered.. But time is up.. We need to speak out. No more shame.. No more Stigma.. No more hiding. Said Annitah.

The concept behind her event is to bring together women who have been through all sorts of violence, sexual, physical, emotional. Bring them together and break the silence.

She says that she wants her story to be the journey of every woman. She want women to know that rape is not death, abuse is not death you can rise above it.

Do not miss it!
