Shujaa thrashed by the All Blacks at the Commonwealth Games

Shujaa had been having a renaissance of sorts this last two months, what with them reaching tow Sevens finals in quick succession. But it seems that we as Kenyans were all in a dream with their incredible performances. Why? The beating they took at the Gold Coast at the hands of the almighty All-Blacks.

The national sevens rugby team Shujaa suffered a chastening 40-7 defeat to New Zealand in their second Pool Round match at the Robina Stadium in Australia’s Gold Coast on Saturday morning.

The loss saw Kenya compound its chances of making the medal bracket with the honours only available for contention by winners in each of the four groups.

Sammy Oluoch scored the consolation try for Kenya which he converted.

Kenya had launched their campaign with 26-10 win over Canada with New Zealand’s All Blacks pummeling Zambia 54-0 in their opener.

Innocent Simiyu’s charges will thus need to win their final pool match against Zambia and hope All Blacks fall to Canada.
