Kenya 7s started their Singapore sevens title defense brightly with a 22-7 win over Argentina.

Frank Wanyama touched down to put Kenya ahead, before Nelson Oyoo made it 10-0 at the break with the second unconverted try. Dennis Ombachi made it 15-0 on resumption, before Frank Wanyama completed his brace, which Brain Tanga converted.

The Argentine grabbed their first converted try but there was no come back as Innocent Simiyu’s men held onto the win.

Needing just a second win to progress to the main cup quarters, Kenya 7s lost to Australia 29-7 in their second match of the Singapore sevens. The impressive Nelson Oyoo grabbed Kenya’s consolation try as the Aussies outplayed the hard fighting Innocent Simiyu’s boys.

Shujaa now must beat Samoa at 12.50pm in their last pool C match, to book a quarter final slot. Meanwhile, Argentina beat Samoa 17-7 to stay third in pool behind Kenya and Australia.
