Stop Hiding Children With Disabilities: Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura Says

Samburu parents living with disabled children have been urged not to hide them. Nominated member of parliament, Isaac Mwaura said many parents do not take their disabled children to school.

Speaking in Maralal town on Sunday when he visited children living with disabilities at Samburu handicapped rehabilitation and education programme orphanage centre he said officials are going round the country to establish the number of people living with disabilities.

"We don't want those with disabilities to be hidden or punished. God has a plan for everybody. Let them be known so that they can be helped," said Mwaura, who is also the chairman, Kenya disability parliamentary association.

Mwaura was with nominated senator, Naisula Lesuuda, Samburu county women representative Maison Leshoomo and other local leaders. They donated food, clothes and wheel chairs worth thousands of shillings to more than 200 destitute children from Samburu.

Mwaura urged parents to ensure all disabled and orphaned children are taken to school. He appealed to well-wishers to help the less privileged.
