Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan says street children in Eldoret are being used to supply drugs and sell alcohol packaged as tea in thermos flasks.

Hassan says bushes around Sosiani River in the town are being used as hiding places for street families who engage in drugs dealing and crime.

The county commissioner says they have ordered for clearing of bushes around the river which crosses through the town.

Meanwhile, one hundred and fifty people have been arrested in Kirinyaga County and arraigned in different courts since the government launched a crackdown on illicit brews and second generation brews since March.

Speaking at Ngomongo slums in Kutus town, Kirinyaga County commissioner Mohammed Birik said the county security team has netted and destroyed over 6000 liters of illicit brew.

He said the fight against the illegal trade must continue and warned bar owners selling second generation liquor that the security team won’t relent in nabbing them.

"This is not only about Makavo but even those  selling  second generation brews  in bars are illegal and we will fight to ensure they are done away with.’" Said Birik

The county commissioner who was in the company of Central regional coordinator Wilson Njega regretted that as early as 8 AM many youths in the area are drunk and cannot contribute to National development.
