Taharuki kijijini baada ya mvua kufukua mifupa ya binadamu wasiyemtambua

Athari za mvua kubwa yasababisha mmonyoko wa udongo na kufukua mifupa ya binadamu  na kuwatia wakaazi woga.

Mvua kubwa inayonyesha katika maeneo mengi nchini Kenya inatarajiwa kuongezeka katika kipindi cha miezi miwili huku mmomonyoko wa udongo na mafuriko yakishuhudiwa.

Wanakijiji wa lokesheni ya Kimalel Baringo kusini walistaajabu baada ya kupata mifupa ya binadamu anayeaminika kuzikwa miaka mingi iliyopita.

Wakaazi wanasema kwamba mifupa hiyo ya binadamu inakisiwa kusombwa na maji ya mafuriko kwa kuwa wenyeji hawana uhakika iwapo palikuwa na jamii iliyozika maneeo hayo.

Wanasema kwamba wameshindwa kutambua familia ambayo walihusika katika kuzika jamaa yao katika eneo hilo.

Baadhi ya wanakijiji wanasema kwamba tukio hilo ni la ajabu sana na linafaa kufanyiwa tambiko ili lisije likadhuru watu wa eneo hilo.

“Mifupa hiyo ya binadamu ilipatikana katika mtaro wenye kimo cha futi saba kwenda chini, hata hivyo haijulikani miaka mabyo mwili huo ulizikwa” wakaazi walisema.

Tension high in Baringo over killing of 3 Police Reservists

Tension is high in South Baringo where some families have fled from their homes after three police reservists were killed in a bandit attack at Arabal.

GSU personnel have been sent to the area but human rights activist Harun Ole Mpaka says bandits are still terrorizing residents in the region.

He is accusing the government of failing to provide adequate security in areas affected by banditry.

Three police reservists were killed last night in a bandit attack in Baringo south that also left 7 other people injured. The reservists were attacked as they were pursuing bandits from East Pokot who had raided the area and stolen livestock.

Activist Harun Ole Mpaka says hundreds of people have fled the area as a result.

Cattle rustlers on Monday raided Muchongoi Village in Baringo South and stole more than 200 head of cattle and 300 sheep.

Hundreds of families fled to Kabel trading centre for refuge as Lomoiwe and Kapchir Primary Schools were forced to close bringing the number of schools closed due to insecurity to 10.

Area Chief Patrick Chepsoi said that more than 70 armed rustlers drove the animals towards Pokot county and added that a woman and her 13-year-old son are missing.
