We packed it for her and hipp baby food that would last us a month since we were visiting home in ug. My daughter only knew her food. The baby food was stolen 😳😳. KQ plane headed to South Africa damaged at JKIA (Photos and Video)

News broke on social media that a Kenya Airways flight bound for Johannesburg, South Africa was unable to take off after it was damaged.

Pictures of the damaged airplane have been widely circulated on social media, with many wondering what could have gone wrong.

Kenya Airways management have also sent out a press statement explaining the incident. Read it below

Kenya Airways confirms that one of its aircraft was involved in an unfortunate incident last evening. The aircraft, a B-737-800 was expected to operate flight KQ764 to Johannesburg.

The incident involving an airport tow truck happened during push back of the aircraft from the bay damaging part of its fuselage and engine.

Kenya Airways would like to confirm that there were no injuries. Flight KQ 764 was later cancelled to allow for further investigations and all guests were accommodated on other flights.

Kenya Airways renews sponsorship deal with 7s rugby team

Kenya Airways has renewed its contract with the Kenya Sevens Rugby team as the official shirt sponsor in a deal worth Ksh156 million. Only Ksh36 million from the pact will be used to take care of players’ and technical bench salaries.

The new Kenya Airways deal will also cater for medical insurance for both the men’s and women’s Sevens teams as well as the Fifteens team while on international assignments.

The airline opted for shirt sponsorship only after making massive losses last year.

Kenya sevens players will now receive their contracts immediately they come back from Sydney IRB sevens.

 

Three Kenya Airways Flights Diverted To Mombasa & Tanzania Due To Bad Weather

National carrier Kenya Airways was on Wednesday morning forced to divert three flights which were scheduled to land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport due to foggy weather in Nairobi.

Two flights, KQ765 and KQ552 were diverted to the Moi International Airport in Mombasa where flight KQ499 was diverted to Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania.

In a tweet, Kenya Airways reported that the flights would later land in Nairobi at 0915h (KQ765), 0917h (KQ499) and 0946h (KQ552).

KQ posts biggest loss yet in last financial year

National carrier Kenya Airways has reported a 25 billion shilling loss after tax, in the last financial year, the biggest loss to be posted by a Kenyan company.

Managing Director Mbuve Ngunze attributes the loss to competition from Middle East carriers, high operating costs and a drop in tourism travels following travel advisories.

Kenya Airways confirmed there will be disruptions to its flight schedules during US President Barack Obama’’s visit.

The Kenyan airspace is expected to be closed tomorrow from 7:45pm to 8.35pm and on Sunday from 5pm to 6pm. Flights departing or arriving during the closure time have been re-scheduled.

Passengers are advised to be at the airport early enough due to the announced road closures in Nairobi.

Kenya Airways To Resume Flights To Ebola-Hit Countries

National carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) could resume flights to Liberia and Sierra Leone in a fortnight, Cabinet Secretary for Health James Macharia said on Monday.

Saying that the decision was arrived at after it was established that the two Ebola-hit nations have stabilised,  Macharia said his ministry is consulting with stakeholders to review resumption dates.

Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone are among West African countries that recorded widespread transmission of Ebola in the 2014. An estimated 12,000 deaths occurred.

The epidemic affected flight operations in multiple countries including Kenya which banned its flight operations to the two countries.

Passport Applications To Be Done Online

The Immigration Department has announced that all passport applications will done online from next month through the e-Citizen platform (www.ecitizen.go.ke).

The department made the announcement through their website, www.immigration.go.ke, and twitter handle, @ImmigrationDept, and added that more details on the new changes to passports applications will be given tomorrow.

The changes will take effect from April 15 2014 this year and the department emphasized that manual application for passports will not be accepted.

Kenya Airways to fly to Tanzania normally following agreement

Kenya airways will resume normal operations to Tanzania after President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Tanzanian counterpart Jakaya Kikwete met to discuss the stalemate.

Tanzania’s civil aviation authority had reduced Kenya Airways’ flight frequency to Dar es Salaam from 42 to 14 per week.
