The suspect was arrested at Kilara area at 1am on Thursday and is being held at the Wote Police Station where he is helping police with investigations.

The victim who is yet to be identified is alleged to have been in a Toyota vehicle, registration number KCS 738T, that was used to drag him for about 50 metres.

14-year-old girl battered to death by 16-year-old boy who then had s3x with her corpse

A 14-year-old girl who was allegedly battered to death by a 16-year-old boy with a hammer was ‘told not to meet him’ by a friend’s aunt because ‘you don’t know what weirdos are out there’, a court heard.

Viktorija Sokolova’s half-naked body was found propped up on a bench at a pavilion known in West Park, Wolverhampton, in April.

The 14-year-old had been subjected to a ‘ferocious’ hammer attack during which she was struck at least 21 times and had her skull smashed in and spine ‘snapped in two’.

Today the court heard a police interview with a 13-year-old friend of Viktorija, who told officers how the teenager had planned to move to London the day after the attack.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also claimed Viktorija had arranged a midnight rendezvous with defendant, who called himself ‘Lazy Cho’.

She said: ‘The person [Lazy Cho] asked to meet Viktorija at midnight – she said yes but you can see from the texts he was asking to meet her for ages.

‘She told us that she was going to London the next day to get away from Wolverhampton.

‘She did not give a reason she just said I’m going to London for a few months.

‘She said that boy had asked to meet her in West Park at midnight, we just looked at each other – that was really late but I thought nothing of it.

‘She just said he was a mate and did not tell us anything.’

The girl added: ‘Viktorija was with my friend, she was meant to go at 8pm but stayed to 10pm.

‘Her [friend’s] aunt told her to not walk through the park because it is “unsafe and you don’t know what weirdos are out there”.

‘She did not want people to know who she was meeting.

‘We were going to go out on Friday, then they found a body and we knew she went though West Park, she was not answering her messages and calls.

‘I saw it was a teenage girl. I had a feeling it was her

‘I had a text from my friend, she had called me loads – I spoke to her and she said that body was Viktorija’s.

‘My friend had access to Viktorija’s Facebook as it was on her phone – and it showed she was talking to this boy [Lazy Cho].

‘His name was not a proper name.

Nyandarua Man kills 3-year-old niece, attacks mother before attempting suicide

A man killed his three-year-old niece, seriously injured his mother and then attempted suicide by slitting his throat in Nyandarua County on Thursday.

The 27-year-old committed the crime in Ol Kalou Constituency.

A resident told the Star that the man had intended to kill his wife and four-year-old son but that the woman fled while the child was in school.

He then went to his mother’s house where he found his sister’s daughter and cut her in the head with a panga. She died at the scene.

The killer then attacked his mother and left her unconscious before heading to school to pick his son.

At the school, head teachers asked if anything was wrong. He told them that he had killed his mother and niece.

“The teachers raised the alarm so he fled and jumped into a nearby dam. Residents found him trying to slit his throat and pulled him out,” the resident said.

The area chief said the man’s mother was taken to a nearby hospital and that she was unconscious. She suffered injuries to her head and other parts of the body.

Police took the suspect for treatment and the child’s body to a mortuary in the area.

The killer’s father said he returned home from Nairobi four days ago and told his wife that he intended to commit murder.

“He went to Nairobi a few months ago for work at construction sites. His wife informed me of what he said so I told her to stay alert,” he said.

The father said he tried in vain to talk to his son to find out what the problem was.

“He could be under the influence of drugs. His acts could also be as a result of cult worship,” he said.

Residents accused police of laxity, saying they took too long to report to the scene. They said that by the time officers arrived, they had disarmed the suspect and taken his mother to hospital.

Bodaboda operator brutally murdered, body dumped near sewerage plant

A middle aged motorcycle operator was brutally murdered in Naivasha by unknown people and the body dumped near the town’s sewerage plant.

The man who had a reflector-jacket did not have any identification documents and it’s suspected that he could have been murdered elsewhere and ferried to the scene.

Tens of motorcycle operators who gathered at the scene confirmed that the deceased did not hail from the area though there were indications that he was involved in the transportation sector.

A witness James Maina said that they were heading to the lake when they saw the body dumped along the dilapidated road.

On checking, they found the body which was covered in blood dumped on the bushes and informed the police who later moved in to collect it.

“The man had several deep wounds on the face and on the back of his head and from his dressing he appears to be a motorcycle operator,” he said.

Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident adding that investigations had started though no arrest had been made.

“The body did not have any identification documents and we suspect that it was ferried to the scene from another area,” he said.

Meanwhile residents of Karati and Maraigushu in Naivasha are up in arms over an increase in cases of cattle rustling in the area in the last three months.

They noted that a well-organized gang was raiding the villages, stealing the livestock before slaughtering them and ferrying the meat to unknown places.

In the latest incident, six dairy cattle were stolen and later slaughtered in Karati area by the same gang that left behind internal organs and the animals’ hides.

“We are living in fear as the gang is striking every week and slaughtering even dairy cattle before using several vehicles to escape with the meat,” said Jane Wambui a resident of Karati.

Speaking on phone, the OCPD confirmed the cases but was quick to add that they were closing in on the gang of a round ten people.

“We suspect that this is the same gang that has been terrorizing area residents and we have received a tipoff and it’s a matter of time before we catch up with them,” he said.
