Wayne Rooney handed open-ended return to Everton as a coach

Wayne Rooney, who is still deciding whether to accept an offer from DC United to end his career in Major League Soccer, has an open-ended invitation to return to Everton afterwards.

It is understood Rooney has already been told he would be welcome back as a coach at Goodison Park any time in the future. Rooney revealed that was his long-term aim in an interview with Jamie Carragher last February.

Having a guarantee of being able to start his coaching career at his hometown club might be one good reason why the 32-year-old goes to the USA for two or three seasons.

Certainly, there are influential figures at Everton who believe Rooney would benefit on and off the field from a spell in the US before moving into coaching, especially living with his family in the US capital. However, chairman Bill Kenwright is known to want Rooney to play on at Goodson.

Wayne Rooney tells Everton that he wants to join DC United

Wayne Rooney has told Everton he wants to join DC United, with a £12.5million deal now close to being agreed.

As Sportsmail revealed, the former England captain is on the verge of joining the MLS club after his representatives travelled to Washington DC for talks.

Rooney’s agent, Paul Stretford, was in the US capital to discuss a contract that will run until the end of the 2020 MLS season.

hierarchy that he was ready to accept an offer that can be officially confirmed when the MLS transfer window opens on July 10.

It is believed Rooney will move to America’s east coast with wife Coleen and their children, having rejected the invitation to make a big-money switch to China after only one season back at his boyhood club.

The family are understood to have been reluctant to relocate to the Far East. The wheels of this move were put in motion almost six weeks ago when Jason Levien, DC United’s chief executive and managing general partner, contacted Stretford to revive the interest the American side first showed last summer.

Levien is also co-owner of Swansea City – fronting a large consortium who took over in July 2016 – but the Welsh club and DC United are treated as entirely separate entities, so Swansea’s potential relegation would have no impact on the Rooney pursuit.

Levien has been searching for a marquee signing this summer to coincide with the opening of DC United’s new Audi Field stadium, which opens on July 14.

The ground will only have a 20,000 capacity but it is state-of-the-art and cost nearly £300million to build, including land acquisition. DC United currently have one of the smallest payrolls in the MLS but will secure increased revenue through the new stadium and therefore have the money to fund the Rooney signing.

Sportsmail understands the club tried to sign Robin van Persie in January, before Rooney’s former United team-mate joined Feyenoord in Holland.

According to reports in America, they have also targeted Javier Hernandez, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli, but Rooney would be the greatest coup and the name with the biggest global pull.

DC United head coach Ben Olsen said the club were trying to add ‘some high-end quality, I think that’s what we’re in the market for’.

Rooney has made his decision after becoming disillusioned with life at Everton under manager Sam Allardyce, who has deployed him predominantly as a midfielder.

He started the season well, scoring seven Premier League goals by November, but has only completed the full 90 minutes under Allardyce on four occasions. He reacted angrily to being substituted before the hour against Liverpool in April.

He scored the last of his 11 goals in December and was recently told by Allardyce that he could try to find a new club if he wished as the Everton manager could not guarantee him games next season.

Key members of Everton’s hierarchy – including chairman Bill Kenwright – would like Rooney to remain on Merseyside but it is believed owner Farhad Moshiri agrees with Allardyce, who is growing increasingly confident of staying on despite fan unrest.

Rooney missed Saturday’s match against Southampton due to a calf problem and it is unclear whether he will return for Sunday’s final Premier League fixture at West Ham.

The Everton dressing room is said to be surprised at the turn of events and some believe the team missed Rooney’s creativity in the 1-1 draw with Southampton.

Ex-prostitute Helen Wood plans tell-all memoir revealing details of tryst with Wayne Rooney

Their marriage has been under strain since Wayne Rooney’s infamous drink-fuelled night out involving a female office worker last year.

Now, Wayne and wife Coleen are braced for further turmoil with the publication of a tell-all memoir by former prostitute Helen Wood.

Rooney and wife

Wood, 31, who had a sexual liaison with the former England striker in 2010, is promising an ‘explosive’ book in the next few weeks, promising that ‘no detail will be left out’.

It is just six months since a distraught Coleen threatened to end her nine-year marriage to Rooney after he was found drink-driving and in the company of a female companion in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

However, it is not just the footballer who could be embarrassed soon, because Ms Wood is planning a second publication in America which is set to name a famous British actor with whom she also claims to have had sex.

An injunction prevents her from revealing his identity in the UK.

A source close to Ms Wood told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Helen is ready to tell the truth and won’t be silenced.’

After her liaison with Rooney, she gained minor celebrity status, appearing on – and winning – Channel 5’s Big Brother.

Is Rooney’s Marriage On The Rocks? Wife coleen Spotted Without Her Wedding Ring

Coleen Rooney has reportedly stepped out without her wedding ring amid claims her marriage is over.

The pregnant 31-year-old was said to have taken off her £250,000 bespoke wedding ring and £200,000 engagement ring as she and her husband Wayne held crisis talks at their £6 million marital home in Cheshire yesterday.

Coleen – who is pregnant with the couple’s fourth child – had fled to stay with her parents in Liverpool, taking their three children with her.

It is not known how long Coleen spent talking to the former England player, but a family friend said yesterday: ‘She is seriously considering divorce and their marriage is hanging by a thread.’

Coleen is said to have been left distraught after a string of tawdry claims by a party girl at the centre of her husband’s drink-drive arrest in the early hours of Friday, and asked her husband, ‘How many girls are there?’

Laura Simpson, 29, had allowed Rooney to drive her away in her car after meeting at a nightclub – and claimed she would have had sex with him if they had not been stopped by police.

Mrs Rooney has discarded two diamond-encrusted bands according to The Sun, with a friend saying: ‘Stepping out in public without her ring sends a clear message to Wayne — enough is enough, this time things might have gone too far.’

Ms Simpson, a single mother of one, from Irlam, near Manchester, told MailOnline that she would have slept with Rooney if he had not been arrested behind the wheel of her VW Beetle car in the early hours of Friday morning.

It has since been revealed Rooney may have only been stopped by police initially because of a faulty £4 brake light on Ms Simpson’s car.

Had it not been for the minor traffic violation, officers in Cheshire may not have stopped the footballer in Cheshire on Friday night, according to The Mirror.

A set of two replacement brake light bulbs for a VW Beetle cost just £4 at Halfords.

Mrs Rooney, who has been with her husband of nine years since they were 16 and stood by him when he was caught using prostitutes, is said to have broken down, yelling: ‘How could you do this to me while I’m pregnant?

‘How could you be so stupid? The world is laughing at me because of you.’

Mrs Rooney has reportedly told friends she ‘wants to believe’ her husband did nothing more than ogle Ms Simpson, but fears he may have gone further if he had not been stopped by police.

‘I Kissed & Hugged’ Wayne Rooney After He ‘ogled my chest’ Reveals 29-year-old Woman

This is the 29-year-old brunette who let Wayne Rooney drive her home in her car after a ten hour drinking session.

Former England captain Rooney, 31, was charged with drink driving yesterday after being pulled over while allegedly taking single mother Laura Simpson home in her Volkswagen Beetle.

The Everton star’s pregnant wife Coleen, 31, was on holiday in Mallorca while he was partying near their £6million home, on Thursday night. She is understood to have flown home on Friday night.

Ms Simpson is reported to have downed prosecco and vodka in a ‘whirlwind night’ with the former Manchester United player in a bar in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

They are later believed to have left together following a raucous night where Rooney was seen dancing on tables and singing Oasis songs in what sources called an ‘all-day, all-night’ drinking session.

She told MailOnline: ‘He kept admiring my clingy top and asking what size they were, saying “Are they real?” We had a kiss, a hug and some banter, harmless fun. I’m not a marriage wrecker.’

She described it as ‘a mad few hours’.

Laura told MailOnline: ‘I felt safe with Wayne, his driving was OK. We were on the road for 10-15 minutes and then we thought we saw flashing police lights so Wayne slowed down, he wasn’t speeding, and stopped at the side of the road.

‘There were two officers, I think and Wayne looked really worried. He turned and said to me “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, you’ll be OK, I’m getting out of here”.

‘On reflection he was foolish for driving me car if he was over the limit, it was silly.’

She told The Sun: ‘Wayne was p****d right off and really worried about it. It all happened so fast. It was a whirlwind. I don’t know if it’s because I was that drunk but he didn’t seem that drunk to me.’

Rooney posed for selfies with fans at a host of bars and restaurants near his Prestbury home before attempting to drive home in a black car owned by the 29-year-old office worker from Salford, Greater Manchester, just after 2am.

Wayne Rooney Becomes Second Player To Score 200 Goals In EPL History

Everton forward, Wayne Rooney became only the second player in Premier League History to score 200 league goals after Alan Shearer, when he opened the scoring against Manchester City yesterday as the two teams settled for a one all draw.

Everton 1-0 Stoke: Wayne Rooney completes fairytale return to Goodison Park as he heads the winner for boyhood club to earn opening-day victory

City had to wait until 82nd minute to get an equalizer through Raheem Sterling. Both sides were forced to finish the math with ten men after City’s Kyle Walker and Eveton’s Morgan Schneiderlin were sent off for receiving two yellow cards.

With eight minutes to go, Rooney’s triumph was denied by an equaliser from Raheem Sterling. Still, it was better than all but the most diehard Evertonian would have expected. This was supposed to be a comfortable three points for City, who last dropped points in the opening home game of the season in 2006. Instead, they were made to fight all the way.

Ultimately, intense pressure — even with 10 men — told. Danilo crossed, Mason Holgate’s headed clearance fell short, Sterling finally beat the excellent Jordan Pickford with his shot. Morgan Schneiderlin was sent off for a foul on Sergio Aguero, his second yellow card offence, but it was too late for City to take full advantage. The locals had to content themselves with jeering Rooney as he was withdrawn during Ronald Koeman’s reorganisation. He’ll take that all night — particularly from them.

Rooney linked, he slowed the game, he calmed it all down. Somehow, he also found the energy to run farther than any Everton player: 10.7km.

And Everton hung on for a point. Against the odds, a team built largely on youth, with eight English starting players — the most the club has sent out since 1996 — held on against the might of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Everton 1-0 Stoke: Wayne Rooney completes fairytale return to Goodison Park as he heads the winner for boyhood club to earn opening-day victory

The bright new era at Goodison Park had a sluggish opening 45 minutes. Then, just as the tannoy announcer reported ‘One extra minute’, Sandro Ramirez fed Daniel Calvert-Lewin, whose cross was met with a terrific jump and header from Wayne Rooney. Cue bedlam.

Rooney never going to be denied the headlines on a first Premier League appearance for his boyhood club for 13 years. After all, he’s been writing his own scripts since he announced himself to the world on the same ground with a goal against Arsenal aged 16.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes didn’t even bother to namecheck him in describing the winner. ‘You know who was always going to be part of the story and that’s how it panned out,’ he grimaced.

AUDIO: Ghost Mulee Asimulia Jinsi Shabiki Aliyemkumbatia Rooney Alivyopanga Matukio Yote

Rooney’s Stunner And Dowell’s Late Winner Helps Everton To A 2-1 Win Over Gor Mahia

The much awaited clash pitting Gor Mahia and English side Everton ended 2-1 in favour of Ronald Koeman’s side at the Tanzania National Stadium in Dar-es-Saalam yesterday.

The game saw Wayne Rooney make his second debut for Everton after re-joining them from Manchester United, where he had spent 13 years. The

Three Lions all-time top scorer announced his arrival in a style in the 34th minute with 35-yard strike, which got Gor keeper Boniface Oluoch napping. Gor then equalised four minutes later through Jacques Tuyisenge. However, Everton had other plans as Kieran Dowell netted the second goal in the 84th minute.

Meanwhile, Not many would have predicted that at this stage of the campaign, Posta Rangers would have an opportunity to claim top spot at the half-way stage of the SportPesa Premier League.

Today, they have a chance to do just that when they host Nzoia United. Sitting pretty in fourth spot, two points off top spot, the mailmen will move to number one in the standings with victory against an unpredictable Nzoia.

Goals have been hard to come by for Sammy Omollo’s charges, averaging less than a goal a match but the acquisition of Kennedy Agogo Otieno is already paying dividends as he spared them from defeat last time out with a last ditch effort against. Otieno will be expected to line up alongside either Jared Obwoge or Dennis Mukaisi against Bernard Mwallala’s charges. After a rip-roaring start on their return to the top flight league, Nzoia have fallen by the wayside and talks of an unlikely title challenged have been hushed and replaced with fears of being dragged into a potential fight for survival.

The departure of Brian Omondi is the latest of the headache that Mwalala must grapple with as he seeks to keep the Bungoma-based side in the fight. To do that, he will need to rekindle the early season displays that accounted for no less a scalp than that of champions Tusker.
