Three Kenyans and 21 Tanzanians have been kidnapped by rebels while heading to Namoya gold mine in Congo.

The 24, mostly truck drivers, were seized by the Mai-Mai militia group which has in the past repeatedly clashed with Congolese troops.

On June 16, United States warned that it had received new reports linking DRC troops to murder and rape.

The war has affected women and children in the central Kasai region.

US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, called for action.

"Reports of the Congolese government's campaign of murder and rape of women and children should shock us into action." Haley said.
