Three people including a Kenya Police Reservist (KPR) have been killed while several others were injured as suspected armed Pokot bandits on Tuesday allegedly attacked Turkana at Lomelo border of Baringo and Turkana Counties.

Reportedly the sudden three Henry Nachorei (herder), Alfred Lokori (herbalist) and Lochokon Naucher(KPR) were suddenly shot dead when the bandits attacked Lomelo village in Turkana South Sub-county.

It is suspected the Pokot bandits from Tiaty Baringo South also injured several people during the attack before making away with unknown number of animals towards Nadome- border of Baringo and Turakana.

A resident Joseph Locherat said that efforts by the armed Turkana herdsmen with KPR to recover the animals were futile.

“The Pokot bandits attacked us in large numbers and they also got us unawares” said Locherat adding that a number of Turkana youth were still in the bush following up with the elusive bandits.

Speaking on Tuesday while receiving the Chief Justice David Maraga who was launching a high court in Kabarnet town, Baringo County Commissioner Peter Okwanyo confirmed the fresh Pokor-Turkana attacks saying it was getting persistent.

“In fact as we speak my Turkana County counterpart just called me saying his three people have been killed this morning at 11am at Nadome by my Pokot people from Baringo East” Said Okwanyo.

He however directed Tiaty Sub-county Commissioner Daniel Kurui and County Administration Police Commander (AP) Robinson Ndiwa to deploy more security officers to offer reinforcement and help follow to arrest the criminals.
