Phil Jones' bad night in the  on Wednesday got even worse after he was trolled by opposition striker Michy Batshuayi.

Jones scored an own goal in the early stages of the second half in 's 2-1 defeat away to Valencia.

It was his fourth own goal for United and possibly his most embarrassing, sliding the ball past his own goalkeeper, Sergio Romero, from the edge of the area.

To make matters worse, his habit of making strange faces while he plays football - a trait often mocked online - was picked up by Chelsea loanee Batshuayi.

The trolling originated from a tweet to Batshuayi about his footwear - a pair of customised Adidas boots with the Batman symbol on the heel, in reference to the Belgian's name.

Batshuayi responded to the tweet: 'Glad you like guys... but can we talk about Phil Jones face first?'

He accompanied the tweet with a picture of him and Jones challenging for the ball, with the England defender gurning in the way that has become his accidental trademark.
