Flamboyant Kenya national team and Kenya Prisons women's volleyball team player Jane Wacu is a joint winner of the reality TV show ultimate challenge christened, the nomads edition.

Wacu together with Aminiel Mcharo won Ksh 500,000 of the reality Tv show shot in Marsabit County, aired on a local channel which ended on Saturday.

The Tetu High School alumni was competing against 12 other participant in one month reality show that saw participants compete in various activities including 42 and 10 km race, canoing and goat challenge among other events.

Other participants in the one month show were Beatrice Njoki, Ibrahim Camara, Deliah Ipupa, Damaris Nalantei, Rehema Rashid, Pascal Omondi, Brian Chege, Sibina Anyango, Daniel Otieno and Luigi Spinola,

The volley baller, who has had professional stints in Europe, said the challenge helped her realize things she thought she can't do in her lifetime.

“Yes I was brought up in ghetto and I thought I had the skin to withstand the hardship in the wilderness but I was completely wrong. However, the one month in wilderness and the daily activities made me realize I can run and do other things,” said the 31 year old.

She added; “ It was awesome but tough experience but at the end of it all, the sportsmanship in me made me conquered it all. My focus shifts to both the national team and my club-Kenya Prisons assignments."

The Show host and sports journalist Brian Tsuma lauded Wacu selfness saying she was one of the kind.

“With one million at stake one would not care about others but she(Wacu) when she had the opportunity to outdo Mcharo in the home stretch of the 42km which was the decider of the winner , she decided to walk with him since Mcharo was injured,” noted Tsuma.

He continued: “I celebrate her and wish her well in her future endeavors. Her humanity threw the whole crew, the management off the feet.”
