That is the question Kenyans on Twitter sought to answer after Amina lost her bid at the 28th AU Ordinary Summit in Addis Ababa on Monday.
Using the hashtag #WhyAminaLost, Kenyans shared their responses and made light of the event.

@Raymoddebruce tweeted: "It seems tharaka nithi was not around to save you this round #WhyAminaLost."
@eric_bosire said, "#WhyAminaLost is because BABA (opposition leader Raila Odinga) wasn't consulted for blessings!"
@Vyshyy said, "#WhyAminaLost 1. It was free and fair election 2.There was no ghost voters 3. Lack of manual backup
Some took the opportunity to talk about impending issues such as the doctors' strike, the ongoing drought and the recent attack on a KDF base in Somalia.
@ItsNjokiKelvi tweeted: "#WhyAminaLost President Uhuru Kenyatta prioritized on 1. Amina over KDF 2. Amina over doctors/patients 3. Amina over lecturers/students."
Kathambi Mutegi said, "Trust me Amina, the pain you are feeling right now for losing can't be compared to a starving or a sick Kenyan."
Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi said, "At least Amina will get Certificate of Participation".
Amina lost the seat to Chad’s Moussa Mahamat.
She garnered 27 votes and Chad 26, while one country abstained in the fifth round.
In the sixth round, Chad got 28 votes and Kenya 25, while one head of state abstained.
Chad took the seventh round alone, with Mahamat garnering 38 votes.
State House spokesperson commended Amina for running a valiant race and noted that her candidacy marked the re-emergence of Kenya "at the very heart of the pan-African project."
