Akothee, real name, Esther Akoth may be flying high right now both in her musical career and private life, but there was a time things were tough to the point that she had to get married at 14 to help her family.
During the marriage, she went through torture and a lot of challenges because her then husband would physically abuse her, and even up to date, the marks from the beatings are still very visible on her body.
She was blessed with three daughters during that time before she decided enough was enough and walked away. Now, she’s a doting mother of five after having other two kids, sons, from her ‘wazungu’ exes.
Akothee was worked as a taxi driver in Mombasa at some point, before her breakthrough, and before that, the flamboyant singer was also a house help and even sold omena to make ends meet in Kanga.
But now that’s all in the past and the lavish singer is living a life that many of us can only dream of.
