Zimbabwe is on total internet shutdown as protests over increased fuel prices go on.

There was a call for all citizens to stay off the streets Friday, over violent protests.

The internet shutdown is trending online, while photos of the dire situation shared.

Many people are anxious to know how their loved ones are doing but the shutdown means they are unable to keep in touch.

The President who is out fo the country posted messages on Twitter and Facebook to update his citizens what he is upto, only thing is no one can read it because social media has been turned off.

isa van wyk..

Your nation has no internet at the moment, thanks to you. How are they supposed to read this?

@AlexBeazley..

For those of you that are out the loop there is a MASSIVE crisis going on in #ZimabweShutDown. Here’s what you need to know: on 12/01 the president announced an almost double increase in fuel price that being R43 per one liter of petrol due to increase fuel usage/illegal trading.

J’suis Noir 🇿🇼 🇦🇺..

The government has shutdown the internet so we don’t see our families and loved ones are being tortured by the police and soldiers. How many times must we say #tajamuka #sesjikile.

mygreatestversion..

In case y’all didn’t know Zimbabwe lost internet access and can’t upload videos on what’s going on. Innocent unarmed people are being killed by police and military while their president is off on vacation apparently #ZimabweShutDown

@zandi_mgutshini..

A whole country is being silenced right now. That’s ~16 million people. Please post/share/tweet/RT/like anything you see about Zimbabwe for the millions of voices that are not being heard today. There would be no #ZimabweShutDown if people’s voices didn’t matter.

Sane 🍒..

@edmnangagwa #ZimabweShutDown can you at least give the people the freedom to communicate with their relatives. Imagine not knowing how your 60something year old grandmother is copping while of this is happening.

Amazing-Grace Makusha..

The past 96 hours during #ZimabweShutDown have been hectic. Our rights as citizens are not respected in this country and we are tired of a government that keeps victimizing the same people it has a mandate to protect!!! Enough is enough!

Not The Balance Me Hun..

This country is rubbish. How do you strip away access to internet & social media nationwide for 36 hours because people want their voices heard. #ZimabweShutDown
