Four men died in Meru Central subcounty on Monday night when the boda boda they were on plunged into a river.

Area police boss Tom Achia said the rider was speeding when he lost control at Njari bridge.

The four were on their way to Kaguma market from Gatimbi shopping center.

Achia added that the rider was not in the required gear and that his passengers were not in helmets.

He said the injuries on their bodies indicated that they landed on stones.

He urged road users to obey traffic rules.

The bodies were taken to Meru Level 5 Hospital mortuary.
