KINANGOP: Suspected Thief Lynched After Botched Church Robbery

A suspected thief was lynched by members of the public in Gathwariga village in Kinangop after a botched robbery attempt in a church.

His six colleagues escaped from the irate mob during the Friday morning incident along the Fly Over-Thika road.

A witness Abraham Wanyoike said that the suspects had raided one of the local churches with intent of stealing some newly bought computers.

“Members of the public caught up with one of the thugs and beat him to death while the others escaped using the cover of darkness,” he said.

A senior police officer who declined to be named confirmed the incident adding that the body had been taken to Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary.
