Police have arrested two Kenyans who are suspected to be behind terror attacks in the country.

The two, Abubakar Sadiq Louw, 69 and Yassin Sambai Juma, 25, are believed to be part of an Iranian terror ring planning attacks in Kenya.

Speaking in Nairobi on Saturday, IG Joseph Boinett said police have vital information on the two individuals who are being interrogated for more information.

"We have irrefutable evidence that they have been recruited into an Iranian spying ring. The mission of that ring was to mount terror attacks in this city, not only targeting western interest but our people as well," Boinett said.

Boinnet said that the two have made a number of trips to Iran in which they have met their handler by the name Parsa who gives them money and instructions on areas they are targeting.

Boinett said Juma was trained in counter surveillance and counter interrogation techniques, and instructed on how to operate in the country.
