Two suspected thugs were last evening shot dead by police in two separate incidents and three guns recovered from them. The guns had more than 30 bullets. Police say the first incident happened in Kasarani area where a wanted suspect was shot dead in an ambush. Police later raided his house in Uplands area, Limuru and recovered an AK47 rifle with 25 bullets and a pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition. A second suspect was killed in Babadogo area where a mugging spree had been ongoing. Police say they recovered a pistol from the suspect and that his accomplices escaped on foot. Cases of armed robberies are on the rise in the city with police struggling to contain them.

In Lungalunga slums, a suspect was lynched by a mob in a botched robbery on a factory in the area. Police say a gang of about ten had tried to break into a factory when an alarm was raised alerting a mob that lynched one while the rest escaped on foot. Police discourage mob lynching of suspects.

A 16 year old boy drowned in a pool of water in Hardy area, Nairobi. The boy was swimming with his colleagues when he drowned last evening. Police say they were informed of the incident long after it had happened. The body was moved to the mortuary.
