Speaking while releasing the results today, Education CS Fred Matiangi said the top KCPE candidate with special needs scored 421 marks, 5,190 pupils scored over 400 marks, compared to over 7,000 pupils in 2015.
Prior to releasing the results Matiangi was at State House where he met with President Uhuru Kenyatta to brief him on the results.
The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by PS Education Belio Kipsang,CEO, Teachers Service Commission, Nancy Macharia, Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chairman, Prof. George Magoha, and CEO, KNEC , Mercy Karogo.
