There was drama at the Naivasha mortuary after a group of relatives clashed over the burial of their kin who passed away last week.

During the early morning incident, the burial of Hannah Nyokabi who hails from Mai Mahiu was delayed for over three hours as some relatives cried foul over her death.

The 40-year-old and mother of three passed away in unclear circumstances in the area local health center where she had been rushed after allegedly falling ill.

But a postmortem carried out in Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary indicated that the deceased was hit by a blunt object on the lower stomach leading to her death.

A witness Joel Kimani said that the mother of three died while undergoing treatment in the health center before the body was transferred to the Naivasha mortuary.

He told of the family and friends shock when the postmortem report revealed the woman died of different causes.

“The relatives of the woman have stopped the burial for the time being after learning how their kin died and they want some questions answered,” he said.

A source in the hospital said that the post mortem was done on Monday before the burial was conducted on Tuesday.

“From the postmortem there are indications that the woman was hit on the lower abdomen and this led to her death,” said the source.

The family however resolved their differences and the body was released for burial in their home a few kilometers off the Naivasha- Mai Mahiu road.
