Residents of Naivasha are in shock after two people believed to be a couple were murdered and their bodies dumped off the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road.

It’s believed that the middle aged duo were murdered elsewhere and the bodies ferried to the abandoned field a few kilometers from Mt Longonot national park.

The two were strangled using a wire, stripped naked and doused with a suspected chemical before being dumped in the area.

This brings to seven the number of people who have been murdered and dumped along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway and Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road since the year began.

In the latest incident a group of herders spotted the two bodies and informed local leaders who in turn called on police officers.

According to one of the local leaders James Muturi, the two did not hail from the area and there were indications that they were driven to the area by a vehicle.

He said that there was proof that they were strangled using a wire and doused with some chemicals on their backs before being dumped in the area.

“This land is used by herders seeking pastures for their animals and they are the ones who spotted the bodies,” he said.

A senior police officer who declined to be named confirmed the incident adding that the bodies had been collected and taken to the local mortuary.

“The couple appeared to be in their 40s, there were no identification documents found on them and it’s obvious that they were murdered elsewhere and later driven here,” said the officer.
