Police in Naivasha are holding two suspects including a KDF officer after they were arrested while trying to con nominated Senator Paul Njoroge off of thousands of shillings.

Trouble started when the two approached the senator with promise that they would assist him win the gubernatorial seat in Nakuru country.

Speaking after the arrest, Njoroge said that the duo first invited him to meet them in Gilgil but he declined and instead told them to travel to Naivasha.

“In Naivasha they first demanded Sh150,000 to start the process of assisting me and I smelt a rat and called police officers who moved in and arrested the two,” he said.

Njoroge, who in the past has courted controversy on several occasions, alleged that the duo had a bad motive adding that this was not about the elections.

“They insisted that I travel to Gilgil and I fear that they were planning more than conning me but am glad police have taken over,” he said.

But speaking at Naivasha police station, the area CID Boss Kennedy Njoroge said that the senator had since withdrawn the case and the duo released.

“All we can say is that the senator who was the complainant has decided to withdraw the case after consultations with some members of the family,” he said.

Meanwhile, a 70-year-old granny is fighting for her life in Naivasha sub-county hospital after she was attacked and left for the dead by a buffalo in Longonot area.

During the attack, two cows were injured by a group of buffaloes that have invaded the area in search of pastures.

According to one of the area leaders Peter Thuku, the wild animals had strayed from the nearby Mt Longonot national park into the nearby farms.

He said that the victim was heading home when the buffalo attacked leaving her nursing a fractured hand and head injuries before members of the public came to her rescue.

“We are living in fear due to the constant attacks by the buffaloes and our plea to KWS to deal with the wildlife has fallen on deaf ears,” he said.
