Mo Farah once again dominated the men's 10000m final on the first day of the IAAF world athletics championship as he cruised to victory to defend his world title.

Kenyan Paul Tanui settled for Bronze with Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei finishing second.

Kenyans exchanged lead for the better part of the race but it was Farah who once again proved his dominance as he controlled the race with two laps to go and went ahead to land his third straight Gold medal in the race.

Earlier on, Olympic champion Faith Chepngetich and Winnie Chebet qualified to the semi finals of the women's 1500m. Chepngetich clocked four minutes and three seconds to win heat three and cruise to the semis while Chebet was third in heat one which was won by Genzebe Dibaba.

However Judith Kiyeng failed to progress after finishing in 13th place in heat two.
