Traders made a killing during Kenya Methodist University’s 17th graduation ceremony on Saturday.

Many hotels in Meru town were fully booked two days to the ceremony.

There was a traffic snarlup.

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu graduated with a Masters in business administration.

Waititu was among 2,800 learners who graduated.

He said he has proved his critics wrong about his academic qualifications.

“At least people who have seen me with a gown can now attest to the fact that I have graduated. Those who have been questioning my papers can confirm from the institution,” Waititu said.

He said he is now better equipped to serve the people of Kiambu county.

Early in January, the politician won a case in which former Governor William Kabogo alleged he forged a degree certificate.

He was awarded Sh50.9 million after Kabogo alleged he breached the Leadership and Integrity Act and had a fake degree from India's Panjab University.

Kabogo wanted the court to declare his rival unfit to run for public office.

While defending himself in the suit, Waititu accused Kabogo of merely seeking to wrongly use the court process to tarnish his political name and support.
