Radio Jambo host Gidi has revealed that he used to skive classes so as to catch World Cup matches back in 2002.

The world cup tournament which took place from 31 May to 30 June 2002 was hosted in South Korea and Japan, the first time it was staged in Asia.

Unlike when the showpiece is staged in Europe, it affected the timings across the world, with most matches airing in the morning and as a result most people would catch the matches at work and some like Gidi would skive classes.

The revelation came on Friday morning last week when he was discussing about the Senegal vs France match which saw the Africans shock the world by beating the then reigning world champions, 0-1 in a scintillating encounter.

I remember the Senegal vs France match since I was in campus. Gidi said.

I remember we skived class that day to catch the game since no one would concentrate knowing the match was on, plus the match was aired in the morning. He added.
