Governor Ali Korane arrested over shooting of former Garissa finance CEC Idris Mukhutar

Garissa governor Ali Korane has been arrested and questioned on Tuesday over last week's shooting of former Garissa County Finance CEC Idriss Mukhutar in Nairobi.

The governor was arrested by Flying Squad officers at his home and is locked up at Kilimani police station.

Two other suspects, believed to be hired assassins, have been arrested and are being held at Kilimani.

He and three others were taken to custody for questioning ahead of possible prosecution over the incident. Mukhutar was last week confronted at close range by a gunman as he left a mosque in Kileleshwa.

He is still in ICU after the shooting incident. Mukhutar had complained to police of threats to his life. Police say they have a tight case against those in custody.
