A KCSE candidate at Kakimba mixed Secondary School in Suba North constituency has died, barely a week before completing her national examinations.

Faith Atieno died on Monday morning at Homa Bay referral hospital where she had been admitted to give birth.

The student developed labour pains on Sunday evening before she was rushed to the hospital.

Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum said the student died after she developed complications during delivery.

“We have information the candidate died because there were some problems in delivery,” Tum said.

Atieno’s death brings it to three the number of KCSE candidates who have died during the ongoing exams in Homa Bay county.

The other two died at different hospitals when they were receiving treatment after getting injuries during football matches.

Tum said they are conducting investigations into the cause of death.
