Njue Gitonga who lives in Mjini slums and is the neighbor to the two said he met one of the neighbors carrying a bucket when he inquired to see what she pours in the river every morning she refused.

"I was shocked to see that he was carrying feces, I called the area chief who was shocked and he told me to guard the suspect as he called public health officers," Gitonga said.

Amina Mukami who is one of the accused said he is HIV affected and she uses ARVs and at night she had stomach upsets and was suffering from diarrhea and could not hold on and had to relieve herself in a bucket.

"I wanted to get out but I could not hold much longer," Mukami said.

The two are being held by police at Meru police station.

Officers at the station could not hold onto the exhibit and the suspects were told to put the buckets outside.
