S.K Macharia recounts working as a sweeper for Boeing

SK Macharia is one of the biggest media stakeholders in Kenya and one of the wealthiest to boot. But he wasn't always like that.

He recently revealed that he once worked as a sweeper during a prize-giving ceremony at Kahuhia Girls High School where he opened up about his past. The event was covered by his T.V station, Citizen T.V.

SK's rousing story reminds me of that of Njenga Karume; the politician who was once a charcoal dealer before he became a billionaire. At his death in 2012, his empire was diversified into three main areas Hospitality, Real Estate and Agriculture, with the Jacaranda Group of Hotels being one of the prized possessions.
