Rugby star Humphrey Kayange is set to receive KES 470 904 with a premium of KES 10 483 as claim settlement.

The rugby player will be compensated under UAP Travelsure Policy, for injuries sustained during a match in July 2014.

The settlement is also expected to cater for any injuries related or caused whilst playing rugby.

The former Kenya Sevens captain sustained an ankle injury during the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and was referred for surgery.

However, the travel insurance could not cover the costs incurred by the surgery and transferred responsibility to the Kenya team management body, NOCK.

Kayange contacted KRU but was unsuccessful, until his club, Mwamba RFC intervened, resulting in the operation at Kijabe Hospital.

The settlement covers all major travel cover risks such as medical emergency, repatriation benefits, personal accident, travel delays, luggage delays and losses.

Kayange will receive the money on Thursday at Mwamba RFC, Railways club in Nairobi.
