inffamous-fights

There are few more bizarre sights on a football pitch than two team-mates downing tools for a fight with each other.

Jermaine Beckford and Eoin Doyle are the latest villains of the scarcely seen phenomenon as the Preston pair were dismissed after being separated by teammates.

Well, after that bizarre incident how about we take a stroll down memory lane and check out some of the most shocking clashes between club-pals from down the years.

Jermain Beckford vs Eoin Doyle

The obvious place to start as the most recent example of lunancy between team-mates.

Preston were behind in the game and desperately trying to find an equaliser against their 10-man opposition, only to completely capitulate.

Beckford and Doyle almost came to blows as the situation threatened to explode but cost their side a route back into the game as Sheffield Wednesday ran out 2-1 winners.

Craig Bellamy vs Jon Arne Riise

Craig Bellamy was famed for winding up opposition defenders with his constant verbal tirades during the course of a match.

On this occasion he turned his ire towards the seemingly docile Jon Arne Riise whilst the pair were on a team bonding trip to Portugal.

The story goes that Bellamy confronted his team-mate with a golf club which he later made light of with his famous 'golf-swing' celebration.

Lee Bowyer vs Kieron Dyer

With ten minutes remaining at St James' Park, and a restless home crowd baying for blood with their side 3-0 down, tension spilled over between the duo.

Bowyer and Dyer simply started scrapping on the pitch to the astonishment of the players around them.

The incident resulted in a seven game ban for Bowyer and the humiliation was complete for both players as they were forced to make a public apology.

Joey Barton vs Ousman Dabo

What would a list of bust-ups be without the inclusion of Joey Barton? The controversial midfielder hospitalised his Manchester City team-mate Ousman Dabo in 2007.

The training ground clash resulted in police being called and Barton eventually pleaded guilty.

The combative former QPR man was given a £3000 fine and four-month suspended prison sentence.

Emmanuel Adebayor vs Nicholas Bendtner

Arsenal were 4-1 down to fierce rivals Tottenham, a touch paper which would then be lit by Arsene Wenger's strikers.

Adebayor attempted to headbutt the Dane and later revealed his aggression was stimulated due to a perceived lack of respect.

David Batty vs Graeme Le Saux

Blackburn's foray into Europe following their domestic triumph erupted in Russia as Spartak Moscow strolled to a 3-0 lead.

David Batty comes in swinging as Graeme Le Saux takes a step back in astonishment before their fellow players flood the scene to diffuse the situation.

Colin Henry was on hand as the main peacemaker and seemed to interrupt the fracas in the nick of time.
