Real Madrid's 40 match unbeaten run was brought to an end yesterday, after losing 2-1 to Sevilla in La Liga.

Former Manchester City forward, Stevan Jovetic scored a dramatic stoppage time winner for Sevilla, after Sergio Ramo's 85th minute own goal had cancelled out Cristiano Ronaldo's opener from the spot.

The result leaves Madrid who have a game in hand one point ahead of Sevilla, and two ahead of rivals Barcelona.

On Thursday the Los Blancos set a new record against the same team which ended it days later in their 3-3 Copa del Rey match, with Madrid completing a 6-3 aggregate win in the two-legged tie.

With 13 minutes left in the match, Real was trailing 3-1. But a penalty from Sergio Ramos and a 90th minute equaliser from Karim Benzema meant that Real avoided a defeat.

In Italy Juventus who hold the longest unbeaten record in Europe of 43 matches, were beaten 2-1 by Fiorentina, to remain one point ahead of Roma with a game in hand.
