de gea

David de Gea is heading closer towards the Manchester United exit door as he pushes for a move to Real Madrid this summer, according to reports from Spain.

Spanish publication leads with the story on the front cover of Friday's edition with the headline reading: 'De Gea opens the door'.

The paper adds that the goalkeeper 'has asked United to sell him to Madrid' with a desire to move to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

It is the second time in two years that Real have attempted to sign the Spain international - after their 11th hour botched attempted on August 31, 2015 due to fax machine issues.

As a result, the Spanish giants are moving early this time around to avoid a repeat of that scenario and are expected to make a £59-63million bid for the 26-year-old.

Marca claim that De Gea told United three weeks ago of his desire to sign for Real and pleaded with the club to negotiate a transfer.

Coincidentally or not, following that meeting De Gea was out of the side against Sunderland on April 9 due to hip problem.
