Petr Cech will hang up his gloves at the end of the season after spending 15 years in the  with Chelsea and current side Arsenal.

The 36-year-old has revealed the current campaign will be his last as he has achieved his all of his targets as a professional footballer.

Cech announced the news on social media by posting a statement to his 1.79million followers.

He wrote on Twitter: 'This is my 20th season as a professional player and it has been 20 years since I signed my first professional contract, so it feels like the right time to announce that I will retire at the end of this season.

'Having played 15 years in the Premier League, and won every single trophy possible, I feel like I have achieved everything I set out to achieve.

'I will continue to work hard at Arsenal to hopefully win one more trophy this season, then I am looking forward to seeing what life holds for me off the pitch.'

Cech has won 18 trophies since arriving in England back in 2004 as a 22-year-old.

The former Czech Republic international played a crucial role in helping Chelsea win their first Premier League title during his first season at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho.

He went on to win three more top-flight titles with the Blues as well as four FA Cups and the League Cup on three occasions during his time at Chelsea.
