Lawyer Charged With Rape

A Nairobi-based lawyer was on Thursday charged with rape in a Kibera court. The lawyer, Ronald Oimbo, allegedly attacked a woman who had gone to his house in Ongata Rongai to do his laundry on April 17 and was arrested a week later.

Oimbo denied the charge before Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi. The lawyer had earlier refused to plead to the charges claiming that he had been assaulted by police at Ongata Rongai.

However, the police boss said Oimbo was among rowdy inmates and his officers were only restraining them from fighting. He was released on a KES 100 000 bond.

The case will be heard on July 6.
