Linda is in soooo much trouble. Hata sijui atasidika aje? She has been kicked out of the traffic department 13 months after she was demoted following corruption allegations.
Linda Okello has been transferred from the Kiambu traffic department to Molo police station where she will work as a general duties officer, reports The Star.
SHE WAS DEMOTED FROM A POLICE CORPORAL TO A POLICE CONSTABLE AFTER SHE WAS FOUND WITH A SH 1,000 NOTE DURING A STING OPERATION BY TRAFFIC HEADQUARTERS.
Following the transfer to the general duties docket, Linda will among other things be assigned on police patrol, guarding of prisoners in the cells and transporting of prisoners to and from court.
Traffic commandant Jacinta Muthoni, who was Linda’s overall supervision at the traffic department last January declined to comment why she was demoted.
“I CANNOT COMMENT ON ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES. WHO LEAKED THE INFORMATION? I WILL NOT COMMENT; ASK THE HIGHER AUTHORITIES.” MUTHONI TOLD THE STAR ON PHONE.
During the police operation two colleagues who were together with Okello escaped but she stayed put.
The decision to demote the officer drew mixed reactions from the rank and file in the police force.
An officer who sought anonymity said it was unfair to demote Okello without evidence of corruption. Others want her charged in court.
