False alarm! Popular Kikuyu secular artist, Joseph Kamaru is alive and kicking! The musician has confirmed.

This comes after rumours of his apparent death flooded social media early Friday morning.

In an exclusive audio, Kamaru who has been admitted at Nairobi's Avenue Hospital, confirms that he is recuperating well and he hopes he will be discharged today and even attend a musician's meeting at Homeland hotel.

"I am in hospital, with God above us I believe no sickness or illness can conquer us. I might be released from the hospital today so Ia may attend a musician's meeting at Homeland." Said Kamaru.

Legendary Kamaru, 79, is popular for his hit songs, 'Ndari ya Mwarimu', muhiki wa mikosi and 'Muti Uyu'.

Kamaru who started his long musical career back in 1965 has over 2,000 songs with most of them going to become national hit songs.

After enjoying a successful career composing secular songs, he announced that he was born again and that he won't perform his secular songs again and went on to compose a number of christian carols.
